The Academy of Strings, hosted by Central Baptist Church in Johnson City, TN, offers violin instruction including group lessons to students ages 4 to 18. The Academy currently has 80 students studying twice a week with master violinists and teachers Kimberly & Timothy Barrett.
We believe wholeheartedly in the Suzuki Method and use its truths and principles as the core of our musical curriculum and method.The Academy of Strings is supported through the Academy of Strings Foundation, an organization dedicated to the personal development of students through quality music education and performance. The Academy of Strings gives back to the community by performing for a variety of community and civic organizations (hospitals, schools, etc).The most advanced students at the Academy participate in "The Ambassador Strings", a touring, recording, and concert ensemble, which has performed for thousands at various outdoor summer festivals and symphony orchestra concerts.
