The Academy of Strings offers both individual and group lessons.
Individual lessons are structured similarly to European master classes where a parent and child may have observers during their lesson.Students are given many opportunities, from the beginning, to learn and perform before an audience.
Group lessons are structured according to playing levels, rather than age and offer much more than simply playing pieces in a group setting.
These students receive further instruction where tone and technique principles are reinforced from the individual lessons.Occasionally, group lessons are converted into informal recitals during which each child may show his accomplishments and have the opportunity to learn from the performances of others. This allows the students and parents to encourage each other with a spirit of cooperation and enthusiasm.
The Academy schedules numerous public performances throughout the year.
Students are given the opportunity to share their music in a variety of public performances -- even participating with local symphonic orchestras.Additionally, the Academy offers at least one weekend workshop a year. These workshops are a wonderful opportunity for students and parents to immerse themselves in a day of music with guest teachers from around the country.
